One of those design decisions is that external references into open workbooks never show the drive-directory path, so there'd be ambiguity if Excel had multiple files with the same base filename open at the same time. Repeat: Excel has had this limitation for over 30 years, and at this point it's unlikely MSFT has any plans to address this. Recently I have been having issues with excel not opening multiple excel files at the same time. I open one file that I need, then when I go to open a second file (with a different file name) it looks like it opens, but the excel file never appears. Try either renaming the file to something very short like a.xlsx and see if it will open or move it to a much shorter path, again just to test. While there are some applications that are unicode-path aware enough to go beyond 256 characters (robocopy comes to mind), most still adhere to the 256 character limit which is applied to the. 'Excel cannot open the file 'filename.xlsx' because the file format for the file extension is not valid. Malwarebytes serial key 3.2 2010. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file.' I tried 'Stellar Repair for Excel ' to scan my corrupted excel file. The result shown as 'file is severely corrupted, cannot be previewed. You cannot open two documents with the same name, even if the documents are in different folders. To open the second document, either close the document that's currently open, or rename one of the documents.' Might appear upon opening of Excel 2003 while Risk Solver Platform is installed.

Why Can't I Open Excel Files
Since I upgraded to Excel 2019, my existing macros will not run - they have worked for years on older Excel versions and they DO run normally on my Excel 2019 installation at the office.
I use icons on the ribbon but when I click one, I get the message 'Excel cannot load tow files with the same name'.
PLEASE NOTE: This message ONLY appears in this situation - similar posts on this forum relate to similarly-named user files.)
I have used Agent Ransack to search for and delete all occurrences of:
'Book1.xls'
'Book1.xlsb'
'Personal.xls'
'Personal.xlsb'
I have tried hiding/unhiding files in various ways but nothing works - any ideas?
